Editing almost done

Image
I have basically finished up all the editing for the film. In terms of the clips and audio everything has been lined and up made to perfection. The film is starting to look very professional. I was looking at things I can do to improve the film though. In my research I remembered color correction from my previous AICE Media projects and thought that would be a great way to contribute to the overall mysterious effect of this film. With this being a murder mystery me and my group all believe that the scenes should appear darker and mire intimidating. By doing this the film will create more feeling for the viewers along the lines of that a murder mystery would do. To properly achieve this look I have been doing research on other films and TV shows within the genre. In doing this there has been a lot of varying styles of color correction that I have come across. On this upcoming Thursday I plan to meet with my group to discuss what we believe will be a good idea for our general style ...

Editing has begun

Image
We have started the editing process and things are looking good. The beginning shots of this film are starting to look super good. In editing the beginning part of this film me and my group members have identified some things that need to be worked on and changed. We will plan on having another day to film makeup and added scenes in the coming week. There are some jumps from scene to scene that don't make a lot of sense so we decided to add some more transition scenes. Like the transition from Hoffman and Reynolds at the Morgue to the murder site was kind of confusing so we are going to make it a little easier to understand. Other than that we have been working on creating better sound effects to overlay clips. In production of larger films we saw the audio of walking and other things re-created in post-film production. We wanted to use this idea and test it out in our film. So in clips where we are walking in the woods and closing doors we made sound effects. To create these soun...

Football Problems

Image
I have continued to fall behind in my editing of this film due to my commitment to the football team. I have football practice everyday after school until 6:00pm. This has set me back in the amount of work I am able to complete week-week. I have 6 other courses besides this one the I have to keep up with. With all of this work it has been very hard to make this class a priority. With multiple exams coming up in my schedule I have not been doing a lot of work within this course. I hope that once I complete my exams in the coming days I will be able to allot more time for working in this course. With football being a very physically demanding sport it leaves me very tired and overly exhausted to do my school work. I understand that this class needs to be a priority and I will work to treat it as one through the coming weeks. There is no valid excuse for the delay of editing within my production process and I plan to heavily step up my game. We are looking to arrange an editing session al...

Slower than Molasses

Image
Since we finished filming the group has gotten a little too comfortable. There has been no new updates with editing from any of the group mates. We decided to split the clips up to everyone in the group to quickly clip them all into usable scenes and cuts. However, some of the people in our group are slowing down on keeping up with the work. Zeyn and Jason are becoming very relaxed now the the filming is over. I am going to speak to them next time we are in class and assure that they get their heads on straight so we can continue. The reasoning behind splitting up the responsibility of the clips was simple. If we have less time just getting the clips prepared to be truly edited we can spend more time on the actual editing. Because it was on our phones all the clips need to be trimmed a little bit so that the people speaking line up. The goal now that we have set ourselves back a little is to get all the clips trimmed in the next few days to prepare us for the real editing. Today i...

Filming is finally over!

Image
We were finally able to finish the filming part of this project! I am looking forward to the other elements in this project. The editing process of all of the projects I have completed in this course have been my favorite part of every project. With my experience of editing and Elena's vision of the final product I know the final outcome will be professional. Jason and Zeyn have been working overtime in the filming process so I am also happy that some of the work load will be lifted from their shoulders. To start the filming process I will take all the clips from the film and process and edit them into a rough draft using Adobe Premiere Pro. This software has been very successful in making all my films look professional. However, in order to make this film as professional as possible it is crucial that we really take time and effort in this stage of the production process. Overall, the filming process was pretty smooth. Other than the hiccup we had with time constrai...

We filmed... Well

Image
The group was able to meet up at my house and start filming for our movie. All was going well, Jason had his costume and was playing detective Reynolds. I had my costume and was playing Hoffman. Elena was doing a good job as the coroner and had her costume on as well. And Zeyn came prepared to be the dead body. Elena brought a bunch of props and things we could use in our film to make it more realistic. The filming process was going seamlessly and we were honestly having a lot of fun filming with all the props and such. However, midway through our session Jason parents had called and he had to go. So we didn't even get to the part where the detectives were at the park and we skipped out on a lot of filming at my house. After Jason left me Zeyn and Elena all got as many more clips as we could without him however this put us back a good amount. We plan to meet again sometime after school either this week or next week. We might also meet again this weekend. However, we are kind of in...

Bumpy start

Getting sick is an inevitable part of life. No matter how much we take care of ourselves, we will get sick at some point. Unfortunately, it can also seriously affect our productivity, especially when we are in the middle of an important project. I recently had a bad cold and it completely blocked my production process. I had a lot of work and a tight deadline. But my body was weak and my mind was foggy. I had trouble concentrating and my energy level was low. The worst part was that my illness lasted for more than a week, during which I was unable to do anything productive.  I had to take time off from work and rest until I felt better.  It was frustrating because I knew I was going to be late for my work and there was nothing I could do about it. Whe...

Our screenplay

(Title work in progress) ROUGH DRAFT   INT.  DETECTIVE HOFFMAN’S HOME   We open to a shot of a sink with water running. Blood slowly emerges in the water as eerie music plays louder and louder until it is cut off by the sound of DETECTIVE HOFFMAN’S morning alarm. A shot of HOFFMAN’S messy room is shown with papers, shoes, trash bags lying around. He turns off his alarm and checks his phone. Another shot of DETECTIVE HOFFMAN brushing his teeth and putting on a ring is shown. His face is not shown throughout these shots.                                       CUT TO: EXT. OUTSIDE POLICE STATION DETECTIVE HOFFMAN drives up to DETECTIVE REYNOLD’S who is waiting outside DETECTIVE HOFFMAN Reynolds! It’s my day off and you page me.  DETECTIVE REYNOLDS I know, I know DETECTIVE HOFFM...
