Creative Critical Reflection

In my commercial I used the convent ions that Gatorade uses in their commercials. For example, most Gatorade commercials use newer music like the music used in my video. They also star famous athle tes or just day-to-day athletes drinking their product and us ing it to give them energy . I used this style in the production of my commercial. Gatorade usually represents athletic groups, and they do this by being “relatable” in the sense that sports tire you, but they rebuttal with the fact that Gatorade has what it takes to replenish you and get you back to what u do best . As I edited my commercial, I took all of this into consideration and made my video to the best of my ability to replicate it.        My commercial for Gatorade uses eye-catching tactics that I believe would attract the eyes of real customers. The video had good use of sound. This relates to the music and extra sound effects that were added after filming. I feel that i...

Production Blog - We edited our video!

Since the last blog many things have progressed. I have began editing and almost completed editing for my video. When editing my video I went through many trial and error of how I wanted the videos overall feeling to be. It took me a little more than 15 mins to find the song I wanted to use. I used real Gatorade ads as context for the music and music style that I wanted to use. Once I found the music video I wanted to use I added some non-copyright sound effects to use for add on effects. It took me a while to cut up and find proper transitioning and timing for the video. One thing I have definitely learned that editing takes time and patience to get the best possible outcome. I also added some filters and color correction on the video to create a dramatic and intense effect on the video. Once I had the major components combined I began to work on the small details. The music and all sound, visual effects, and transitioning was completed. So I began to work on...

Production Blog - We filmed!

Image
After the events of last week, my partner Jackson and I began filming for our commercial. On Saturday morning I drove to Jacksons house to begin filming. On the way I stopped at a Gas station nearby to purchase some cold Gatorade for filming. When I got to Jacksons house we changed into our costumes grabbed our props and headed to his community gym. We setup our camera and began filming multiple scenes for our commercial. I advised Jackson to use water from then sink to make himself appear as if he was sweating a lot, which he did. I took various shots of Jackson doing different exercises. As the director, I managed many different shots with different focuses on the actor, Jackson. We did close up shots and low angle shots and high angle shots to emphasize the effects of drinking Gatorade. We wanted to do some shots from outside the gym through the windows but it began to rain and we could not do those shots. We had to improvise a couple shots and angles due to bad weather. We also ran...

Production Blog - Plan to film next week.

Image
We didn't film this week. Due to the recent Jewish holidays and other factors my group has yet to film for our commercial. My group member was celebrating the Jewish holidays Tuesday and Wednesday this week. The previous weekend I was returning from my trip in Chicago, so we couldn't film last weekend either. With all this time taken, there has not been a convenient time that Jackson and I could meet up.  However, we have plans to film for our commercial on Saturday morning.  With our recording place being in Jacksons community gym, we should have no interference with weather. Jackson and I have been working hard to set up everything perfectly for our commercial. I have been preparing film equipment as well as props and costumes needed for our commercial. I have also purchased Gatorade products for the commercial that we plan on using. Transportation wise, I plan on driving to Jacksons house which is not very far from where I live. Jacks...

Storyboard Blog

First Scene -    During this scene the actor will be lifting weights with exhaustion and tiredness. We will emphasize this with dramatic music that builds on the scene. We will be filming in a gym.   Second Scene -    This will be a closeup shot of the weights falling and hitting the floor . After some editing, the sound of the weights hitting the floor will cause complete silence creating a dramatic pause .   Third Scene -    The actor will be filmed from a low angle of he / she picking up a Gatorade bottle and taking a sip. Once the actor takes a sip, upbeat music will begin to play.   Fourth Scene -    Compiled shots of the actor doing multiple different exercises. This will demonstrate the hydration achieved from the Gatorade . A voice actor talks over the actor doing exercises saying, “optimize your performance when you need it with Gatorade .”   Fifth Scene -    The screen will show a close up shot of a G...
