Creative Critical Reflection

     In my commercial I used the conventions that Gatorade uses in their commercials. For example, most Gatorade commercials use newer music like the music used in my video. They also star famous athletes or just day-to-day athletes drinking their product and using it to give them energy. I used this style in the production of my commercial. Gatorade usually represents athletic groups, and they do this by being “relatable” in the sense that sports tire you, but they rebuttal with the fact that Gatorade has what it takes to replenish you and get you back to what u do best. As I edited my commercial, I took all of this into consideration and made my video to the best of my ability to replicate it. 

    My commercial for Gatorade uses eye-catching tactics that I believe would attract the eyes of real customers. The video had good use of sound. This relates to the music and extra sound effects that were added after filming. I feel that if I had a bigger budget for items and props in my video that it could be distributed as real media. My video has an obvious plot that makes people watching want to buy the product. The main idea of our commercial that attracts customers is that Gatorade “replenishes and refuels” your body so that you can maximize your performance. 

When I started to film this commercial, it took me a while to get used to getting good angles and shot ideas. After a little bit of filming, I started to get comfortable with filming and getting the angles right. I began to get better ideas of shots and angles to make the video look good. Filming wise I have learned that it takes creativity to be able to come up with cool shots to use in your video. Editing wise, I have progressed in my abilities to cut up clips and create proper transitions. I also have greatly improved in my use of sound. For example, the use of music in the video I believe helps add to its effect. Something that I learned editing wise is that you must have patience when editing and you must be  


To film my video I used the new iPhone 13. This assisted with the quality of my video visually. The camera quality was impressive and was a great help for the multiple shots that I took in the video. To edit I used Adobe Premiere Pro. It is great software that you can do just about anything on. When using Premiere Pro, I was able to color correct my video with ease, and it made my video great quality and contributed to the overall vibe of how my video felt.

  To be completely honest, that has to be one of the most disturbing films I’ve watched in a long time. There was no talking throughout the whole short film. The setting was lifeless and looked as if this animated world had been abandoned. The plot started with  two doll-like figures with some sort of numbers on their back, one being 5 and the other being 9. They end up coming across this mechanical looking monster, it looks like they went for a mixture of a lion and a dog type of design but made entirely of metal. Production Blog - We edited our video!

       Since the last blog many things have progressed. I have began editing and almost completed editing for my video. When editing my video I went through many trial and error of how I wanted the videos overall feeling to be. It took me a little more than 15 mins to find the song I wanted to use. I used real Gatorade ads as context for the music and music style that I wanted to use. Once I found the music video I wanted to use I added some non-copyright sound effects to use for add on effects. It took me a while to cut up and find proper transitioning and timing for the video. One thing I have definitely learned that editing takes time and patience to get the best possible outcome. I also added some filters and color correction on the video to create a dramatic and intense effect on the video. Once I had the major components combined I began to work on the small details.  Scene 1:Travis will be working on his car with a voice over of him introducing his life and him as a person. He is then interrupted by his mom, who tells him to go do his homework. Scene 2: Travis will be working on his homework after being told to by his mother, and look bored, this will introduce the "teen" factor of his life. Scene 3: Travis will be in class daydreaming and not paying attention, then his teacher will make sure he snaps back into place. Scene 4:  Travis at home looking at cars and doing what he enjoys. Scene 5: Travis seen walking in halls around school, and then is approached by the school bully, who beats him up and sends him to the nurse.  Scene 6: Travis at the nurse after getting beat up.
