Creative Critical Relection
My music video uses lots of the same Conventions and codes as the genre of the song I used. With the specific genre that I had had a lot of "road to recovery" stories involved. That's why we decided to go with the storyline that we did. Also, in the specific artists albums, he tended to have cinematic shots. This includes being darker, and looking more like something out of a dramatic movie. This creates more of an ominous mood and creates more of a dramatic vibe to all of the music videos that the artist makes. We tried to stay with the specific artist of my song (NF) because the song type used is very individual to its kind. And the artist seemed to have the same style in music throughout all his songs. However, in these music videos there is no storyline. This contradicts my video because our video follows a story line. This represents all athletes, and that injuries can't hold you back from becoming your greatest.
The video I have created engages with the audience by grabbing their attention with cinematic shots, and an interesting story line. I feel that the story line used in our video catches the audiences attention and retains it very well. If my video was to be published as real media text, I believe that it would do well. If me and my group had the budget of a professional, I believe that our video could be flawless. Something that I think the video would struggle with is it's length. If this video were to be distributed as real media text, I believe that if more detail went into a longer storyline, it would be near perfect. A longer video would give me a longer time to see the main actor develop. Overall, I believe that our video would get decent reviews.
Something that I improved immensely on through this project were my production skills. When filming, I learned the importance of focus of the camera, and what it can contribute to the quality of the video, and the main focus of a scene. When it came to editing, I spent a lot of time on one specific part of the video. Because I filmed on my iPhone, getting the cinematic quality took lots of time in my color correction. It took me a couple hours to get the cinematic quality that I desired, but in doing so, I learned most of the ins and outs of using color correction. This will be useful for further projects so I can better fit the mood of the audio or object being shown in a video.
I used lots of technology to get the final product of this music video. I own a desktop that I have the application Adobe Premiere Pro on. This software was very useful to the efforts in my video. Without this software, the quality of my video would degrade immensely. And some things that I wanted to do but wasn't aware how were easy to learn with the help of google. Premiere Pro does pretty much everything, but when it comes to certain effects and transitioning, I didn't know how to create it. With the help of a couple YouTube videos I was able to use Adobe Premiere Pro to its full extent. Thankfully, I have the ability to access all of these software, create the best possible version of my video.
